Maharishi Ayurveda Boutique Wellness Retreat

This was our second Panchakarma at Maharishi Boutique hotel Tapovan, and we hope to return in a year. The treatments were divine, more than 120 each over two weeks, and the meals were both nutritious and delicious. The staff are very friendly. The processes move slowly, but their effects feel powerful and long-lasting. We feel reborn in body, mind, and soul, and definitely recommend it.

On a friend's advice, I stopped at this Maharishi Ayurveda clinic for a night while travelling from Delhi to a hill station in the Himalayas, and booked a one-hour massage for the travel fatigue. It was the best advice I’ve had for this trip. The lady technicians, Babeeta and Gunjun, were so proficient, and their nimble fingers seemed to draw the tiredness out like a sponge, massaging away every bit of weariness. The place is peaceful and the massages are good, but I don’t think the price is worth it. Staff may misrepresent the package and avoid providing promised services. We had to keep asking about the pulse diagnosis and yoga class, and never received the promised high tea. Even the tea the receptionist offered when we arrived never came. I’m sad to see Maharishi’s name being used this way. It feels like a money-making place aimed at foreigners, like many properties in Rishikesh. Don’t expect decent car parking either. It’s tucked into very narrow lanes in Tapovan.

I traveled alone to the Maharishi Ayurveda Center in Rishikesh and felt safe and cared for the whole time. I enjoyed it so much that I added two days before heading back to the U.S. The nurturing atmosphere, the town’s spiritual feel, the Himalayas, and the flowing Ganga River all made the experience special. My 12-day stay included Panchakarma treatments that left me feeling healthier and rejuvenated. Vaidya Dr. Chandan’s expert evaluation helped tailor each session to my needs. Gunjan Ji and Sangeeta Ji handled my treatments each day, always greeting me with smiles and saying a small prayer beforehand. That personal touch meant a lot. I also found peace and a sense of spiritual energy in the daily pooja led by priest Shekhar Ji, which helped me feel connected to my healing. The staff made me feel valued from the moment I arrived. Ajay Ji kept my room tidy and made sure I had what I needed. Balwant Ji, the general manager, helped with everything from taxis to local sightseeing advice and kept things running smoothly. Chef Ravi showed me how to make some of the delicious vegetarian dishes served at the center, so I can try them at home. Devendra, the center’s Yoga teacher, helped me start each day feeling energized. I genuinely recommend the center and can’t wait to visit again. Thank you to everyone who made the journey so special!
