The Agaan Shiv temple on the hill was one of the best parts of our five days here. Walking up and spending time there gave the trip a quiet spiritual depth. I came for a retreat with Shila Yog, and Rudraksh Retreat turned out to be a wonderful fit. The yoga shala has a calm, powerful energy, the food is savory and nourishing, and the service is warm and thoughtful. Mahesh ji and Shubhang were lovely hosts. Everything ran smoothly, so it was easy to relax and immerse myself in the retreat. Those five days are ones I’ll always remember.
Misty, the family’s golden retriever, was a highlight for me. She’s three years old, full of energy, and even came along on a hike. The food and fruit were wonderfully fresh, the accommodation was quiet and comfortable, and we could see the Himalayas from the retreat. We spent three days at Rudraksh Retreat in the off-season, and the stay still felt every bit as good. Suchita and Pratayaya led our yoga and meditation sessions, thoughtfully adapting them for us. The time there was deeply relaxing and grounding, and gave us a much better understanding of both practices. The whole family was warm, kind, and incredibly hospitable. They shared how they had gradually built the retreat with a lot of care and love. Before we arrived, Shubhang was responsive and helped arrange transport and other details. We also went hiking together. Those moments became some of our happiest memories of the trip. His mother’s natural skincare products were lovely too. We brought some home, and the ingredients are all locally sourced.
The yoga room was incredible, with a great view and atmosphere. From the property you can see the Bhagirathi river against the mountains, a really beautiful contrast. The hikes nearby were fun and had great views, and we also had good massages. We stayed for four days and had a phenomenal time. The family who runs the place took care of every need. The rooms look out over the mountain range, and the view changes each day with the weather. The food is lighter than at most resorts. We also had a lot of fun attending a wedding in a nearby village. The place helped me calm down, and I’m already looking forward to another visit.
The daily sunset hike to the nearby temple quickly became a highlight. I also got to see a ginger and turmeric harvest, which made the week feel especially connected to the land. I spent a week at Rudraksh Retreat in the Himalayas, and it was a beautiful, grounding stay. The family running it was incredibly welcoming, and their dogs were a lovely bonus. I enjoyed the yoga, from morning sessions to yoga nidra and Shatkarma cleansing practices. The food was delicious, fully vegetarian and organic, made with care from locally grown or on-property ingredients. They were accommodating about dietary restrictions. I also had a deeply relaxing, beautifully done massage. I was there for New Year, and the celebrations were low-key, just what I needed. Classical Indian musicians played Indian classical and traditional folk music during dinner, making for a special, peaceful welcome to the new year. Staff were kind and attentive throughout. It’s a great solo getaway if you want to disconnect and reset. They can arrange transport from Dehradun airport for a cost, which made getting there convenient. I’d highly recommend it to anyone looking for peace, nature, and genuine hospitality.
The food was amazing, with something curated each day around our needs. Shubhang was patient on our trek and explained even the smallest details along the way. This family-owned estate feels personal in the way it takes care of every request. Shubhang and his family are sweet, humble, and accommodating. Come here for a peaceful break from city life. I’d highly recommend the resort and would give it more stars if I could. Thanks for making our stay wonderful.
