Hotel Gnanam

Brihadeeswara Temple and Maratha Palace are both a short walk from the hotel, making it handy for exploring the landmarks. There are also good local eateries nearby for authentic food. The place has an easygoing old-school feel, warm and nostalgic if you like that more personal style. Walk-in bookings come with a 24-hour checkout policy, which is useful when you’re traveling without a fixed schedule. They offered complimentary breakfast, but we didn’t get to try it, so I can’t comment on the food. A comfortable base for seeing the local heritage, with a touch of old-world charm. I’d recommend it.

Breakfast had a tasty range of options, and the staff were friendly and ready to help whenever we needed anything. The three of us stayed as a family in one room, and found it clean, comfortable, and convenient. We had a wonderful stay.

The beds were very firm and comfortable, and we had a balcony. Breakfast was very good, with a nice spread that included fruit. The hotel and rooms were generally clean and well maintained, and the temple and many restaurants are close by. The floor in our room was very dusty. Even after I asked for it to be mopped, they spent under a minute cleaning it and it stayed dusty. Being in the middle of the market made it noisy, and a generator in the adjacent building ran until late at night. I didn’t mind because I was so tired from traveling, but my husband couldn’t sleep well.

Gnanam is centrally located, about 1 km from Brihadeshwara temple, and it’s pure vegetarian. Our room was clean and the toilet was reasonably well maintained. The complimentary breakfast was good, especially the set dosa and coffee. I was happy with the booking and had an excellent family stay.
