There were four of us sharing one room at Hotel Royal Stay, and the staff arranged extra beds without any trouble. The room was neat and spacious enough for a comfortable stay. The staff were polite, responsive, and ready to help, and the WiFi worked reliably throughout. Cleanliness was maintained, and the place felt safe and welcoming. It's a good option for families or groups of friends visiting Thanjavur, and I'd recommend it for its comfort, service, and convenience.

Our first stay here in 2024 was good, when the hotel was quite new. This time was completely different. The food was very poor and everything arrived cold as a packed breakfast sent to the room. I'd booked again because they used to have a buffet, but this time there wasn't one. The room was in a dilapidated state and had a stale, mouldy smell. The bathroom was clean but in fairly poor condition. The sleeping pillows were fine, but the accent pillows smelled bad. I definitely wouldn't recommend staying here.

The only good thing about Hotel Royal Stay is its location near the big temple. The website and Google photos and details are misleading and don't match the property: there is no restaurant or swimming pool. Rooms are below average, and the bathrooms lack cleanliness and proper upkeep.

The manager was friendly and flexible about check-in and check-out, and the hotel is conveniently near the temple. Still, the room quality and service didn't feel worth the 4,000 I paid. In my view, it should have been closer to 2,000 or 3,000. The swimming pool isn't actually part of the hotel, so keep that in mind. Finding a hotel in Thanjavur that aligns with your faith can be difficult, so if that's what you want, I'd suggest booking at least a day ahead.

The receptionist was super cool, and our two rooms were really spacious. We had a very good stay. If my friends ask where to stay next time, I'll definitely recommend it.
