Hostel Gandhi Thiruvananthapuram

The washroom was clean and the price was the cheapest, but the room felt stressfully cramped. Putting around 6 people into a 6×10 motor room and calling it a dorm seems unreasonable. I also have serious doubts about whether it is actually safe for women. There's only a reception desk for formality. No separate bathroom either, just the tiny space in front of the toilet commode for bathing. I had to leave in the middle of the night when the AC started acting strangely. For a while, the whole room, tiny as it was, turned into an oven. I don't understand how a place so greedily partitioned to fit more beds can be called a good hostel.

Hot water is available, and you can get laundry done on request for an additional fee. There's also a small dining area, though parking is only for bikes. The AC only comes on at night, so that may affect comfort during the day. The hostel is neatly kept and feels clean and welcoming, but the washrooms are quite small. One big plus is the location, close to the railway station and a nearby Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple.

I hadn't realized the rooms and washrooms were co-living, but it was my first time trying that and I felt completely safe. I made new friends, got some rest, and left happy. It's a decent, clean hostel at an affordable price. They provided a bedcover, pillow cover, and blankets. I might come again and would recommend it.

This was my first time staying in a dormitory, and I was scared before going. After staying here for 2 days, I really enjoyed it. You can have your own privacy, almost like being in an individual room. The ambience was excellent, and both staff members were very kind and supportive. Whenever I come to trivandrum, I'll stay there again.
