OYO 9116 Thamburu International Hotel

The location worked perfectly for what I needed, and the staff were friendly and ready to help with a smile. My room was comfortable, clean, and well looked after. I had a wonderful stay and would happily come back and recommend it.

Breakfast was a highlight: chana curry, potato curry, chapati, and puri, all flavourful without being too spicy. The hotel is close enough to the railway station that we walked there with our luggage. We arrived after 9 pm for one night. Check-in was awkward at first because the male receptionist seemed confused, perhaps because of a language barrier, but we did get checked in. Our Deluxe Executive room on the second floor was clean and spacious. The bed was firm, though we slept well, and the AC, ceiling fan, and Wi-Fi worked. The TV, safe, and fridge didn't, and there was no toilet paper. When we asked around 10 pm, the receptionist said none was available. After we insisted, he seemed unsure what to do but contacted room service, and we got some. Maybe he was new. We had a 4 pm train and asked for late checkout. The female receptionist in the morning was helpful and easy to communicate with, and the man from the night before seemed more confident then. The late checkout cost ₹500. Around 2 pm, before we checked out, there was no hot water, though a cold shower was manageable in the heat. The location, clean room, and good breakfast were positives, but service was inconsistent and there were basic room issues.

After a tiring 350 km trip with my parents, aged 80 and 76, we arrived to find the receptionist asleep at the desk. We asked for room keys so my parents could rest while we handled the formalities, but staff refused and made us all wait standing there. It showed no empathy or basic hospitality. Around 6:00 AM, we asked for water in the room and were told it was too early. Water is a basic need, not a luxury. The man at reception was particularly rude and unprofessional, and his conduct isn't suited to hospitality. It was a very disappointing stay at Thamburu International Hotel. The hotel needs to improve staff courtesy and guest care, especially for senior citizens.
