Hotel Vijayarani

The location worked well as a starting point for exploring Trichy, and there was plenty of parking. Staff were proactive and good. I didn’t try the restaurant, and the only problem during my three-day stay was the Wi-Fi. The rooms were very good for the price we paid.

The hotel staff, especially around reception and the rooms, were extremely good and polite. My problem was with the restaurant. The waiter gave me a menu and then charged more than its listed price. Another employee said it was an old menu. I told them they should either stop using it or let customers know that the current prices are a little higher. That’s simple. Failing to explain the difference feels like cheating customers. Mistakes happen, but the waiter should have admitted it and dealt with it. Instead, he kept twisting the story and putting the blame on me, as if I’d made it up on purpose. He needs training on how to speak to customers. The management should address this kind of rude behavior. I can see why the restaurant is always empty. My impression now is that the hotel staff are great, but the restaurant staff are horrible and disrespectful, and seem to think customers are fools. Breakfast was included, but most of it wasn’t good. The sambar and chutney were spicy, and the dosa wasn’t cooked properly. Pongal and idli were good, though the coffee and tea were watery and not okay. We arrived at 1:45pm, after the 12 noon check-in time, and were told the rooms weren’t ready and to wait 20 minutes. There was only one dental kit and one soap for three of us, and we were told extra ones would cost more. We also called reception several times for an extra bed, but it didn’t arrive until 10:30pm. I was exceptionally disappointed.

The staff were friendly and helpful the whole time, and the room was clean, comfortable, and well looked after. I had a pleasant stay at Hotel Vijayarani and would recommend it.
