Sowmya Lodge

It was uncomfortable, with lots of mosquitoes, dirty rooms, poor upkeep, and bad service from the staff. The main door had no inside safety lock, and the roof was broken. I asked to change rooms, but was told none were available. The one good thing is its city location near the town bus stand.

I’m still here nearing my fourth day, with no other choice because it’s next to the hospital. The cramped, poorly maintained and unclean room costs ₹1,450 a day for one person, with virtually no service. In three days they haven’t cleaned once, emptied the food waste from the bin, or changed the sheets. There are no toiletries or plug points. The AC smells foul, the washbasin stinks, and the water trickles from every tap. Management is rude on top of all that. Oddly, the lodge is always full, probably because several hospitals are nearby.

The rooms are spacious and the price is reasonable. It’s a handy spot for a quick business trip, with non-veg restaurants, medical stores, and a hospital within 20 metres.

I’ve been staying at this lodge since 8/9/2022, and the staff seem unhelpful toward people from other states. They act differently toward guests who can’t speak Tamil. On 10/9/2022, they locked the outside toilet and bathroom because one guest from the lodge had used them. I feel this kind of treatment is why people from other states don’t prefer coming to Tamil Nadu. I hope the owner takes it seriously to protect the lodge.
