Hotel Aryaas

We paid around 3465/- for a delux room with an extra bed, and the service person was very clumsy. He dropped luggage on our leg and didn't set up the additional bed properly, so we had to follow up several times. The first bed was aligned so badly it started folding when we lay down, and we had to get it replaced. We'd booked here because I'm a native person and Aaryas had been a premium brand since my childhood, choosing it over Janaki Ram and other hotels. This stay didn't meet our expectations. The hotel allows check-in and checkout at any time, but it's not within walking distance of the junction railway station. An auto takes about 5 minutes and costs 100Rs/-. Getting one early in the morning may be difficult. We stayed on the third floor while renovation was underway on the second. The complimentary vegetarian breakfast was basic South Indian fare, including idly, uthappam, pongal, vada, bread, cornflakes, and plain dosa made to order. Nothing fancy. The bread was moldy, and we had to ask for a replacement. The bathroom has separate taps for hot and cold water, so you need to mix it in a bucket. The shower has one rotating knob and no separate hot and cold controls. There was no hot water when we checked from about 3 am to 4:30 am, although the receptionist had told us the day before that it would be available from 3:30 am. We needed to get ready for the Vande Bharat, so this was a problem. It won't work well for travelers catching an early train. There's no 24-hour hot water supply. The washbasin is in the room rather than the bathroom. In an AC room without ventilation vents, that can leave a bad smell and cause water to spill into the room. There is no bathroom exhaust fan either. You can open the wooden-panel windows for ventilation, but then bathing with them open raises a safety concern.

We stayed as six people and booked two rooms. The rooms, room service, and parking were all good, and breakfast was included with the room. The extra guest, our driver, ate breakfast too, but no extra charge had been mentioned beforehand. Afterward they presented a bill for Rs 184, which felt a bit expensive. Still, the rooms and breakfast were awesome.

The room had a dining table, which was really handy, and a kettle with tea and coffee sachets so we could make tea early in the morning. The room itself was neat and spacious, and the staff were friendly. We also enjoyed the tasty restaurant food, which they brought to our room. The hotel is conveniently located near the railway station.

I've been staying at Hotel Aryaas on Madurai Road every six months since October 13, 2023, when visiting Aravind Hospital for medical care. I chose it again today for my routine check-up because the service is excellent and they respond promptly each time. The recent room rent increase has affected my expenses, especially since it happened before the revised GST was implemented. I appreciate everyone at the hotel, from the receptionists to the staff serving the free morning breakfast. I recommend Hotel Aryaas to colleagues and friends as a safe, secure place to stay.
