Athidhi Residency

The room was filthy, with dirty walls and floors and cobwebs. It had two beds but only one blanket, and there were no towels. The power kept cutting in and out all night. The road outside was under construction, so we had to carry our bags through about three inches of water being used to cure the concrete. Nobody was at the desk when we arrived. Once someone showed up, he had trouble finding our reservation. I felt unwelcome from the start. We asked to check out later and were willing to pay extra, but when we came back, the room had no power. I’d put the key back where it belonged, so that wasn’t the problem. The staff member who hurried us out showed me a switch outside the room that turned it back on. Why had it been switched off, and why did a switch outside control the electricity inside? At checkout, he got angry because I didn’t tip him and said I should because I’m a foreigner. I’m happy to tip for good service, but after such rude treatment and the worst stay I’ve ever had, I wasn’t going to hand over money. I’ve travelled all over the world and stayed in thousands of hotels, and I leave honest reviews. I’d tell people not to consider this place. They can’t even run a basic hotel properly.
