We loved how welcoming this family-run homestay felt. The family were incredibly kind and helpful, and made us feel at home in this beautiful city. From here, we could explore on foot, with shops and restaurants along the streets and lakeside nearby. Our stay was short, but we’d gladly recommend it to make the most of Udaipur. The room had the basics we needed, including hot running water and free internet. Breakfast on the rooftop was lovely and homey. 10/10.

Black Pepper Homestay is a simple family home, not a luxury place, but it has what you need to be comfortable. Its location in Udaipur is superb for seeing the city. I really enjoyed my stay and would happily come back.

The location was pretty good, and they let us check in early and leave our bags after checkout. When we asked, they also provided hot water. The hot shower was the best part, though the room was really noisy. There weren’t any common areas for guests, since the rooftop is the family’s home, so the photos don’t make it clear what spaces we could use. We only had brief contact with the family, and they didn’t seem very interested in us. They also didn’t give us toilet paper when we asked. After reading the reviews, it seems this guest house may not be what it used to be, or perhaps the experience differs if you take cooking classes. The price felt too high, since you can surely find the same facilities for less.

I had such a fun evening at Black Pepper'. We learned to cook typical Indian dishes and then got to eat what we made, which was delicious. It’s a lovely place, and the family are sweet. Recommended!
