They moved us to a larger room when the AC in our first room wasn’t working, which we appreciated since there were three of us. The staff were responsive and cooperative. The pool was closed, and the towels smelled unpleasant. The property itself is basic and decent, fine for a short stay, but not the best choice if you want affordable luxury or a more polished experience.
The North Indian breakfast dishes, especially Poori Bhaji, Chole Bhature, and Aloo Parathas, were the best part of the meal. The muffins weren’t fresh, though, and the spread was limited. Idli, dosa, and vada were average. The small pool on the 5th floor wasn’t well maintained when we visited, with wet towels and undergarments left around. Better supervision would help. The rooms are spacious, but the beds weren’t very comfortable, the shower position and water pressure need attention, and the toiletries felt below average for the price. Service was polite and helpful overall, though a bit more promptness would improve things. Sterling Balicha is by the highway near the Balicha bypass, around 10 km before Udaipur city, so it works better for a short stopover than exploring the city. The compact hotel is reasonably convenient for a halt, and I’d suggest it for 1-2 nights. Given the experience, the price doesn’t feel entirely justified, though improvements to the rooms, amenities, and upkeep could make it a better stay.
The rooms were spacious, clean, and superb, and the food was great. Staff were friendly and polite, and the terrace pool was nice and very clean. Free car parking was a plus. It’s right by the national highway, the golden quadrilateral road, which is handy if you want to stay near the highway. Hotels around Udaipur’s lakes cost much more, so this was reasonably priced for a great stay. The sightseeing spots are about 12-15 minutes away by car. A worry-free place to stay.
We had a great stay, though the hotel is outside the city and takes 20-30 minutes to reach. The team were hospitable and friendly from check-in through checkout. The à la carte dishes we ordered were all great, and the restaurant host and Rinku deserve a special mention. Breakfast was good, but the taste could be improved.
We’ve been staying at starling balcony for four days, and Ritu ma'am has made the experience especially nice. Even with a busy restaurant, she and the team greeted people with smiles and a personal touch, and kept checking whether we needed anything. Ritu ma'am also suggested a good place for a walk in the rainy season and took great care of us. Her service is superb. A big thank you from me and my whole family. 🥰🥰🥰
