Hotal Devraj Niwas on Lake Pichola Udaipur

The rooftop is a lovely spot for sunset, with superb views. I’d suggest having tea or juice there, then choosing one of the many nearby pure veg restaurants for dinner if you’re strictly vegetarian. The rooftop restaurant doesn’t use separate cooking and serving utensils, which I didn’t find acceptable, though I understand it shares a kitchen. The hotel’s location is the real highlight, right by Lake Pichola, whose appearance changes through the day. A lake view or partial lake view room gives you a good look at it. Staff and service were good, and cleanliness was good enough, though not great.

The lakefront location is what makes this hotel stand out, with a great view and several shops nearby. There’s also a restaurant upstairs with an excellent view and great food. Our rooms were comfortable and felt like home, and the friendly staff made the place feel personal. This was the best hotel visit of our trip, and every traveller coming to rajasthan should come here.

The staff were polite, but the basic upkeep needs a lot of work. We had booked four rooms, and hot water was unreliable and took a long time to arrive. In some rooms, the toilet flush didn’t work properly, and poor bathroom drainage left water collecting on the floor. It was an average stay, below what we expected.

We had a wonderful three-day stay at Devraj Niwas. The neighbourhood and ambience were lovely, the rooms were beautifully done, and the food was delicious. The reception team was very cooperative, and the service was top-notch. Lalit looked after us at breakfast each morning, and his service was exceptional. The chef was talented, too. We were very satisfied and can’t wait to book again.
