Saorsa Homestay

We felt as if we were in a hostel for two days. The owners live at the villa and, in our experience, there were too many restrictions and interruptions. They repeatedly told us not to do things. We moved two cushions to another room since we were staying in the same room, and were rudely told to put them back, without any politeness. The way they treated us felt like a hostel warden’s, with no hospitality. The breakfast wasn’t worth it, and they should at least ask guests what they want, since people come from different places. They provided only one bottle per room. Two rooms had three beds each, so there were just four bottles for ten people. There was no cleaning service, and the pool was very dirty and far too small. Toiletry kits weren’t adequate either. When we asked for an extra towel or toothpaste, which hadn’t been provided, we got very rude answers. The photos make the villa look appealing, but don’t be taken in by them. I could have answered back, but that’s not how I was raised. I’d never recommend spending your money here.

The property is good and the location decent, but we couldn’t enjoy it. The owner lives there with family and, as we experienced it, made sure there was no real leisure time. We were told not to move a cushion from the couch, and couldn’t ask for a towel or more breakfast without issue. Whether you’re travelling for work or a break, there are much better places to stay in Udaipur. Don’t choose this one.

The views are great, the rooms are quite spacious, and there’s a nice pool. It’s a good place for a family or friends’ holiday, surrounded by nature, where you can relax, have drinks, play music and dance. The host family lives there, so please understand what a homestay means. They’re cool with everything as long as you don’t disturb them. If you’re a group of only boys looking for a private villa to do whatever you want, this isn’t the right place.

We had a wonderful time at Saorsa homestay. The hosts were so welcoming and went out of their way to make us comfortable. Our room was cozy and clean, and the homely feel was one of the best parts. The home-cooked meals were delicious and gave us a taste of local cuisine. The location made it easy to reach attractions in and around Udaipur. It was great value for the price, and I’d highly recommend it to other travellers.
