The lovely view and the staff made this a wonderful place to stay. Some of the senior team are highly experienced and professional, and that shows in the service. I was especially touched by LaluRam Ji. He worked faster and with more energy than many younger professionals, and told me he has been with the hotel for 37 years. His dedication, sincerity and enthusiasm still felt as fresh as someone on their first day. He spoke with great respect about Dr. Lakshyaraj Ji, the owner and the king, and praised his values and how the hotel is run. Seeing senior staff do their jobs so gracefully, wholeheartedly and with real passion was what stayed with me.

The hotel’s common spaces are especially beautiful, including the pool, restaurant and terrace. Breakfast and service were really good, the staff were friendly and helpful, and the spa massages were great and reasonably priced. Being right by the city palace is handy for exploring nearby or taking the ferry to Jag mandir Island palace. That same spot is extremely busy, loud and touristy, though, so I wouldn’t choose it for a quiet getaway. Some food and drinks were incredibly expensive. The palace double room didn’t feel worth the price: it was basic, had no view at all and got a lot of noise because of its location.

The included breakfast was very good, and the staff were responsive, helpful and ready to listen to requests. They also moved us to another room that hadn’t been sprayed. The first room had a strong smell from what seemed like cheap room spray, and it triggered allergies. I’ve never encountered such strong sprays in a five star hotel. The property also looks different from the photos and feels old; the pictures make it seem much bigger than it is. For the price, it didn’t feel like a five star stay at all. The restaurant is small, and meals cost Rs. 2,200 per person, which is too expensive. I was highly disappointed with my first Udaipur trip with my family.

The location is hard to beat, and our lakeview room looked incredible at sunset. The rooms seem a little outdated in the online pictures, but in person they were lovely and really comfortable. Service was great all around.

The ambiance was very good, but no one attended to us. Three staff members walked by without taking our order. We were staying at Taj Fateh palace and went to Pathya.
