The Montail Udaipur

I'd read plenty of negative comments about this property, but my own stay was completely different. The room was spotless and had no lighting issues, the food was excellent, and the staff were humble and very helpful. I was comfortable and enjoyed my stay. This has become our go-to place whenever we're in Udaipur, and I'd highly recommend it to anyone visiting. ❤️❤️

The property was decent for the price, and they did give us discounts on food and beverages to compensate. Still, there were bumps throughout the stay, even though staff tried their best to sort things out. That's not what we paid for. The road to get there was very muddy and bumpy. Check-in was an hour late. The first room's AC didn't work; staff spent an hour trying to fix it without success, then moved us to another room and gave that same room with the broken AC to another guest. The ground-floor restaurant manager was the worst. He kept watching reels and videos whenever he had a moment. On day one, our masala papad took 25 minutes because, he said, we'd ordered fried papad as a starter, and the rest of the food took extra time too. The restaurant was totally empty and we were the only guests to serve. On day two, a cup of tea took 30 minutes. On day four, I ordered a cheese masala omelet first, along with other things. After 35 minutes I asked where it was, and he said he'd forgotten to give the order to the kitchen. He said he'd order it then, but by that point I'd lost my appetite. He seemed to care more about watching reels than serving us. How does compensation for food and drinks help if the food doesn't arrive and service is this bad? There was no ashtray for the room. I asked staff on day one and they said yes, but nothing was done. When I asked again on day two, they said, "Sorry sir, we don't have it." The pool wasn't clean, so we didn't use it at all. There was no hair dryer in the room and we had to request one. On the third day the key card stopped working, and they didn't replace it. Every time we wanted to get into our room, we had to call staff, who came with a Mastercard to open it.

For the tariff, this is a decent hotel, and the staff are really helpful. I left my wallet in the room, but they kept it safe and made collecting it easy. Thanks for the hospitality, and keep up the good work.

The location was excellent, and the rooftop restaurant is worth a visit for its really nice view. Nice hotel, good staff, and thanks, Montail Udaipur, for making our stay memorable.
