Hotel Samay

Hotel Samay worked well for our visit to Mahakaleshwar Temple, with easy access to the temple and other nearby attractions from its central Ujjain location. The staff were polite and helpful, and service was prompt. Rooms were spacious, well maintained, and had modern amenities. There are good food options too, which is convenient if you’d rather eat at the hotel. A comfortable, hassle-free option for pilgrims and tourists.

We arrived late at night on a busy weekend, and the hotel gave us a staff room for the first night. I suspect they had given our booked room to someone else. That night was miserable: the room and bathroom were dirty and full of houseflies. The next day we were moved to an average room, and it definitely wasn’t the larger one we had booked through the MMT app. I wouldn’t recommend this to travellers.

We checked out within 15 minutes. The reception staff were rude and arrogant, the bedsheet and covers were spoiled, and the whole room smelled like a toilet. Nobody would address the smell, and instead they made us stay in that room and pay for it. I’ve never had an experience like this. Worst hotel ever. Never come here.

We stayed two days because we were tired from searching for a good price and didn’t have enough time on the trip to switch rooms the next day. They said there was Wi-Fi, but it didn’t work. Staff told us the owner wasn’t providing it and that it had been down for a long time. The TV also wasn’t working, which they attributed to the rainy weather. They weren’t accepting online payments either. The room itself was fine, but rainwater had gotten onto the floor even with the windows closed. The washroom looked clean, though the flush didn’t work, which was the main problem, and the shower was broken. Poor experience overall. Room 310.
