Shagun Hotel

The room was spacious enough to take in the poor upkeep and cleanliness, and we even had cockroaches as premium room-mates. The shower seemed to be there for looks alone. Ask for drinking water and you get a lecture about what “30 minutes” means. The water never showed up. A stay I’ll remember, unfortunately.

I checked out within half an hour and wasn’t offered a refund. The room had a foul smell, stained bedsheets, and a broken TV. Its door lock didn’t work, which felt like a serious safety issue. After I raised this and asked to move, staff said “it will be like that.” They gave me another room key, but that room was just as unhygienic. At least its lock worked, though the door looked as if a small push could break it. The place fell short on hygiene, maintenance, and customer service. I’d advise people to avoid this hotel.

My room was easily the worst part: it was filthy, and only the lights and AC worked. The TV and fridge were out, and an electrical switch was damaged. The lift was noisy and looked like it needed servicing. Staff were good, but the service was just okay. I’d mentioned early check-in when booking, but they said there was no room. I saw people checking out right in front of me, though, and still couldn’t get in early. I had to find another hotel for two hours so I could freshen up and attend my meeting. The room and toilet were so bad I didn’t even want to take photos.

We lasted only ten minutes in the room. It was dusty, the walls had visible mold, the lights were dim and flickering, and the bathroom was stained and poorly cleaned. The whole old, run-down building felt creepy and unsafe. We’d arrived at 12:45 AM after a long day of travel with our two young kids, both under 10. By 1 AM we had checked out and were scrambling to find another nearby hotel in the middle of the night, with two tired and upset children. I wouldn’t risk staying here, especially with family.
