Mount Castle

When we arrived, nobody was there to open the rooms, and there were no caretakers at the property. The rooms smelled strongly of fungus, and the owner responded very indifferently when we contacted them. We cancelled before checking in because the room made our children very uncomfortable, but they refused to refund our advance. The worst experience. Please avoid this place if possible.

The location is the only good thing. They collected the full amount as soon as we checked in, then the caretaker disappeared. We were missing basics like hot water, a dustbin, and drinking water. When we asked, he said he'd bring them, but his phone was switched off afterward and we didn't see him again until checkout. Please avoid booking these rooms.

The caretaker was the one thing we liked. He helped us and arranged food. We booked online for 15 people, assuming we'd have the whole property, but other guests were staying there too. We had four double rooms and one family room. The double rooms felt cramped. Rooms and bathrooms were clean, but hot water was usually unavailable, and many basic amenities were missing.

The service was awful. There wasn't even a bathroom bucket, and we didn't get hot water. The caretaker's phone was always switched off. They took the full amount as soon as we checked in and then disappeared. A terrible experience, don't book here.
