We paid 1800 per night for rooms that were trashy. The staff were rude, arrogant, and dismissive when we complained. They refused to clean or change the sheets and acted like we were the problem. There was no apology or willingness to help, which was shocking as paying guests. The room was infested with bugs and insects, and I couldn't sit comfortably without feeling like something was crawling around. The smell was vile, like the place hadn't been cleaned in months. The sheets were dirty, the pillows filthy, and the bathroom was worse than a neglected public restroom. The room looked nothing like the beautiful, clean photos they showed us, and from arrival we felt deceived and trapped. We had no choice but to stay and regretted it immediately. This place is a health hazard and a disgrace. If I could rate it below zero, I would. Do yourself a favor and avoid it at all costs. It's a nightmare, not a hotel.

It feels homely and suits a laid back traveller, though management could be more active and involved. There are no complimentary station or airport transfers like some of the older guest houses offer. The river facing spot can be reached by vehicle and works well for elderly people, but there are no lifts. Rooms are small, while the washrooms are clean, and it seems relatively new. Of the two bigger rooms on the 2nd floor, the corner one has the best view; the other is beside the steps. Service is slow, and the food isn't terribly inspiring. Roti, Dal, eggs were suggested as the basic Indian food. If you're lazy, you can eat there, but there are good options nearby: newly opened Terracotta cafe in a by Lane Opposite a local nursing home, above the Aniket Guest house; the 25-year old Pizza joint Pizzeria Vatika at Assi Ghat; Marwari Matth for Indian thali (traditional mixed meal); and more options on Assi Crossing. Ask other foreign Travellers for more choices.

The hotel itself is standard if you stay, but getting a cancellation refund was incredibly difficult. The manager and owner assured us they'd return the money, then didn't. When we followed up, they ignored calls and texts and gave lame excuses. We got our money back only after complaining to the police. Be careful.

I stayed for a week and found it safe, neat, and frugal, with polite staff. Breakfast and dinner were made to my requests, and the minimal rooftop kitchen responded well. It's run by the wife of the late mayor. Very sincere, simple, and clean, with no frills. I recommend it for families, and there were lots of foreigners staying too.

At a cost as high as 1500, there was no TV or anything else, and the rooms weren't clean. The washroom door wouldn't lock properly, and maintenance hasn't been provided. Service felt like they were paying me rent, hahaha. There seems to be miscommunication between the boss and staff. I don't know why people provide services so tragically. Really a bad experience.
