Hotel Varanasi Palace

Mr. Suresh was so friendly and kind when he served breakfast. Our package included breakfast and lunch, and both meals arrived hot and tasted good. The rooms were decent too. A good affordable place to stay near Varanasi junction railway station.

Getting around was easy from here, with Varanasi Junction railway station nearby, the main road (english line road) close by, and autos or totos available all the time. Dashashwamedh Ghat is also close. One thing to know about Varanasi is that vehicles stop about 1 km before the ghats and temples, so you have to walk that last kilometre. People on the road and some touts kept calling us to hotels at very low prices. I'd avoid those places. They had no lift, you had to carry luggage up stairs to the second or third floor, and they looked cramped and dirty, below average. If your budget allows, City Palace is a better choice. Our room at city palace was a little small, but I found it sufficient for 1700/- per night for an AC room. For a 12-18 hour stay they charge 1200/-, and four bedded rooms are available too. The rooms were clean and well maintained, there's a lift, and the staff were well behaved. The menu is provided in the room, and food is served there. It's entirely vegetarian, and the kadai paneer was delicious. You can watch TV, and if the channels aren't working, call them on the room telephone and they'll come fix it. Dial 9 for all kinds of service. We enjoyed our stay and would stay here again on another Varanasi visit.

The room was far smaller and more cramped than the one shown when booking, to the point that it felt suffocating and uncomfortable. Staff were rude and unprofessional, and no one gave a proper response. It was a very bad stay. Avoid booking here. If possible, stay near the railway station instead.

The rooms were clean, but tiny, around 90 sq.ft., so I wouldn't describe one as deluxe. The photos can be misleading. Staff were rigid and unhelpful even though I was travelling with a patient.
