We missed the Ganga Aarti because we spent nearly 2.5 hours waiting to check in. After travelling about 850 km by bike with all our luggage, we were told to stay outside until the Aarti was over. We had come mainly for that, and the hotel’s handling of the situation meant we missed it. We were on the road for nearly 16 hours. I had tried calling from around 4:30 PM, but the phone was switched off and there was no alternate number on Google or EaseMyTrip. When we arrived at about 5:45 PM, nobody was at reception. We waited around 20 minutes before someone appeared, then were refused check-in. This was a lack of basic availability and coordination, not simply a busy period during Aarti. Neither the hotel nor EaseMyTrip gave us proper help or took responsibility, and there was no compensation. I raised the issue with EaseMyTrip, but they didn't take meaningful action or respect our time. I have call logs of my attempts, so questioning whether this happened is unfair. The ₹1200 price doesn't excuse the lack of basics. For that amount, I expected at least an attached bathroom, a window or ventilation, and a working reception. Those expectations weren't met. Mentioning a shared bathroom in fine print doesn't make the conditions clear to guests. The staircase and narrow access areas also seem like safety risks, and getting out in an emergency would be difficult. The room is near the ghat, but you can't see it from inside; you have to go outside. The stairs are in poor condition and the bathrooms are shared, which is especially difficult for families. The staff's reference to “Z security” in response to expecting a smooth check-in after a long journey was also out of line. This is what happened to us, so other travellers can make an informed choice. I wouldn't recommend staying here with family or children, and I'd think twice before booking through EaseMyTrip again.

The one thing in its favor is the position right in front of the ghat. The room we got through MakeMyTrip, though, was tiny and seemed meant for two, even though we booked for three adults. At night we were cold under the two thin blankets, and there was nowhere to store clothes, no cupboard or hooks. The listing felt misleading, and the service was terrible. I wouldn't suggest it, especially for a family.

Getting to the Ganga Aarti from the room is easy, but they charge even for sitting in a chair to watch it, per person. The restaurant food was awful and expensive, too. The bathrooms had no jet spray, towels, or soap. The place itself is okay, but the staff came across as rude and arrogant, and seemed interested only in money. They value foreign guests more, in my experience. At checkout they were on us after a minute and gave us no breathing room. The photos also make the place look quite different from what you actually get. I personally wouldn't recommend staying here.

We checked out and left within 10 minutes, then went to Ganga Darshan Hotel, which was very nice. The rooms here were dirty, the AC didn't work, and the two people at reception spoke rudely and seemed to mock guests. We visited for dev Diwali, and the three-day rate was 25,000, about three times what other guest houses charged. The photos posted online are fake.

You can watch Ganga Aarti from the rooftop or restaurant, and they offer seats there. I contacted them about seeing the Aarti, and the seats cost 200-300 rupees each. The location is great for viewing it, if you're okay with paying for a seat.
