Varkala Villa

We’ve stayed at Varkala Villa again, and we’ll keep coming back and recommending it to friends visiting Varkala. It’s quiet and only a two minute walk from the beach. Binu is welcoming and thoughtful, and always ready to help. Sheeba and Nandhini keep the spotless rooms and are around with a friendly smile. They made us breakfast every day and helped care for our baby while we ate. When my mother felt unwell, they made her ginger tea. We really felt at home. The rates are very reasonable too, especially when nearby places charge much more for lower quality rooms.

There’s no beach view from the villa, but it’s cozy and has a peaceful feel. I’d stay here whenever I come to Varkala. You really don’t have to worry about anything, and getting to the beach and food is easy. Varkala railway station and varkala bus stand are both within 3km. You can rent a scooty here for 600/- per day, with no distance or time limits. You just need to pay for the fuel yourself. For me, this was the best stay in Varkala.

Breakfast is available on request, with Kerala-style tiffins. Payment is taken when you check in. The rooms and bathrooms were clean, and the service deserves praise. This is a homestay with each room rented separately, a good option for budget travelers. It’s tucked away in quiet lanes with greenery around, away from the beach and shops’ bustle, but still just a five minute walk from the beach.

It’s a calm place to stay away from the hustle. The rooms are roomy enough for two adults, and the location makes it easy to reach major spots on foot, about 600m from Varkala Beach and around 900m from the Northern cliff. Mr Binu manages the villa. The caretaker was very helpful with arrangements, including renting a two wheeler and organizing transport to the railway station.
