Villa Luca By Elixir Cliff

The rooms were really large and breakfast was good, though the bathrooms were just okay and could use improvement. It’s a peaceful spot on the cliff with a nice sea view. Walking on the beach in the morning feels great, but the climb back up and down the cliff may be tough if you’re feeling lazy.

I wouldn’t choose a ground-floor room here. I was in Room 101, right by the generator, and last night it was running so loudly that I couldn’t sleep. I asked to register a complaint, but they had no process for it, and management didn’t seem to care. The front desk staff were courteous, but for a holiday or a comfortable stay, I’d avoid this place.

During my three days in Varkala, I spent one night at Villa Luca and the other two at Elixir cliff. I loved Elixir cliff, but detested Villa Luca. The only good thing about the property is the sea deck. The rooms, breakfast, unclean towels, terrible Wi-Fi, and poor mobile network were all disappointing. Trying to work on the Wi-Fi was hopeless, it could take a day just to send a WhatsApp text. The rooms are overpriced too. I paid 6.2k for a ground-floor room with no privacy at all, since it opened onto the outdoor seating area. There was also a power cut in the middle of the night. After that, our room’s fuse went off with a terrible noise and completely disrupted our sleep.

The pool was well looked after and the kids loved it. Our room was spacious, clean, and well maintained, with a large, comfortable bathroom. Staff were friendly, too, which made for a relaxing stay. It’s a beautiful resort with great beach views and a lovely path down to the shore, a nice place for a getaway.
