Blue Ginger, Wayanad

Getting up there is a steep ride, but the gorgeous scenery makes it worth it. Our rooms were beautiful, both cozy and luxurious, and the staff were great. We ate well, and the bonfires after dinner gave the evenings a dreamlike feel. The whole trip came together wonderfully. Definitely recommend!

The forest trek in the morning and a refreshing dip in the natural pond and waterfall were the highlights. The sunrise, fresh air, and quiet forest were memorable too. The staff member who guided our trek deserves special thanks, especially since she came back to help with breakfast. We were a large group, and only four or five staff were left to manage a resort with so many problems, but they did their best with a smile. Still, I wouldn't recommend Blue Ginger resort for a pleasant, hassle-free stay. It feels like a place whose best days are behind it, with signs of poor management and neglect. It's 5-6 km inside the forest, so you need a four-wheeler or jeep to get there, and jeep charges are extra, even though ours were covered. The pathways, pool chair, and badminton court were dirty with leaves, algae, and grime, as if the place hadn't seen many visitors. The children were excited to jump in the pool, but it wasn't even a quarter full. We were told it was filling naturally and they couldn't speed it up. We'd specifically asked about the pools because the resort advertised two pools and a natural pond. One pool was completely destroyed, and the natural pool was neglected and full of leaves. The resort also seemed short-staffed: the manager and staff had to make our food because the chef had quit or been let go. We appreciated their effort, but the food was mediocre and inadequate; outside catering could have been arranged. The rooms were surprisingly clean, but several had plumbing trouble, with poor water flow affecting toilet flushing. The gas geysers didn't work, so we had no hot water, and there was no plumber or equipped staff to fix things. They also switched off the diesel generators at night, leaving no continuous electricity supply.

We had excellent food, cooked to our taste and choice after the staff asked what we'd like. The rooms were very clean, and the service was excellent, with friendly staff available around the clock. Mr. Santhosh was especially dedicated, guiding us well and looking after us. The property is in the middle of the forest, reached by a 3 km off-road drive, and has a private waterfall and hiking area. A lovely place to rejuvenate.

Holding our 5- and 9-month-old babies at the resort felt just like being at home. We loved the well-furnished rooms, friendly staff, and amazing food from the chef. Blue ginger resort was a wonderful escape from Bangalore city, surrounded by greenery, with the sounds of nature and a private waterfall. We spent the days very well. Thanks to the whole team for helping with each request.
