OYO 8843 Taaza Residency

Taaza residency is cheap and can be worth a stay if you’re a bachelor, but we had a bad experience. We booked two rooms for one night. The rooms and toilets were clean, but one room had no bulb and its TV didn’t work. When we told the receptionist, he said that was all they could offer and we’d have to put up with it. His tone came across as arrogant. There was also no power in the room from 6 am until we checked out at 10. The nearby restaurant was decent, and the mandhi biriyani was delicious. The low price and that restaurant are the only real positives. Mr althaf at reception was arrogant, though the other staff were at least somewhat customer friendly. We had no electricity for four hours, and some promised amenities weren’t available.

The staff were very cooperative, and the large room was kept neat. It’s easy to find on the main road after climbing the Thamarasseri churam ghats. There is a restaurant, though I didn’t eat there and can’t comment on it. Parking is a bit limited.

We spent four days at Taaza Holiday and Hills Resort. The setting is unusual, with studio and one bedroom flats, while food and housekeeping are handled through Taaza Hotel and restaurant on the main road. The location and rooms were good, but the hospitality let the stay down. Ordering meals meant calling the restaurant, and deliveries arrived without plates, bowls, or spoons. We had to call repeatedly to get cutlery. At one point there wasn’t drinking water provided, and we used the same towel for three days because fresh ones weren’t brought. The so-called breakfast buffet was at most two dishes you could order, with nothing else. One caretaker did his best to help with our many problems, but the place really needs an upgrade.

We were a group of 11 and went here for dinner since it was a two-minute walk from our resort. The food was the worst we’ve had. The chicken was undercooked and smelled terrible, the fried rice had no salt, and even the dal wasn’t good. Service was very slow, and we waited a long time for the food. I’d tell people not to go there.
