Elysium Resort Alibaug

The food was very good, which is why I’m giving two stars, but the night was miserable. The power was out all night, there was no fan, and it was suffocating and hard to sleep. I called the service person, but he never showed up. There’s no Wi-Fi in the room and no network either. It’s in a village area with no shops nearby, and the beaches are at least an hour away. You’d be better off arriving in your own vehicle, since there’s no public transport. The resort has a nice ambiance, but the staff need to deal with the power problem first.

With a group of over 20 at Elysium Resort, we found the stay uncomfortable. None of the AC units or geysers worked the whole time, so there was no air conditioning or hot water. The rooms were just okay, but without proper ventilation they got stuffy. The pool was uninviting and seemed unsafe to use. The water wasn’t clean and looked like it had too much chlorine in it. For a group this size, not having working AC, hot water, or a clean pool really affected the trip.

The room’s thin curtains let in outside light and noise, and I was awake much of the night with noisy staff or guests outside and the AC roaring like a jet engine inside. I didn’t open the window to look out. The power also went out regularly, and the Wi-Fi was more legend than reality. Zen mode, apparently. The room felt like a time capsule of dated decor, complete with stained sheets, cockroaches, and mosquitoes. The uphill drive on the rough entrance road was its own challenge, though check-in at reception was decent. Even the kanda bhaji came with a surprise, its price seemed to change by the time the bill arrived the next day. Elysium Resort near Alibag is certainly a distinctive getaway. If you like surprises and a challenge, maybe it’s for you. Anyone hoping for a comfortable, less adventurous stay might want to look elsewhere.

I was unsure after reading the reviews, but the stay turned out much better than I expected. The place is quiet, relaxing, not crowded, and a nice spot to spend time with family or friends. The caretaker keeps the property tidy and does a great job, service is fast, the owner is friendly and helpful, and even suggested nearby attractions. Breakfast is worth trying. The rooms are spacious, clean, and well maintained, with good bathrooms and hot water. It’s a budget-friendly stay with moderate rates. Payment is usually by cash or UPI, no cards. The approach roads are in poor condition right now, and it can take about 30 minutes to reach from either side. Once there, the service and atmosphere make up for it. It’s a fun, peaceful family getaway, but quite far from the beach. If beach access is your main priority, this may not suit you. If you’re fine being away from it, it’s a great choice.
