Blue Mercury

We stayed here during a vacation in Arbil. Our room was 5001, and it was really dirty, with waste left in the toilet. The food was just average, with little choice and the same things every day. Not worth it, don’t go.

The outside of the hotel looks amazing, but once you stay overnight, it feels like they focus on decoration instead of travelers’ comfort. The room had very poor lighting, and the curtains and glass weren’t clean. I couldn’t stay more than one night, and it wasn’t worth the money.

I usually check reviews before booking, but this was last minute and I didn’t have time. Seeing a 3-star rating, I thought the stay might be okay. It turned out to be my worst experience. There was hair all over the bath towels, which was disgusting, and the shower faucet didn’t work properly. I complained about both, but they treated it casually. They didn’t fix the faucet until the next day and never offered to move me to another room. The next day I asked to speak with the manager. He seemed very insensitive and unprofessional, and didn’t appear to care. He said everything in my room had been fixed, so I asked him to come and check for himself. He did, and saw that nothing had been done. I told him this wasn’t how to run a hotel, let alone one with a 3-star rating. Instead of offering any help, he argued with me and took my room key, telling me to leave. This is how the manager Blue Mercury hired handles customer service. He even tells his workers to ask for money for any room service. I’ll never stay at Blue Mercury again. A very bad experience at your hotel in Erbil.

The staff were friendly, and breakfast was pretty good. But the dining room needs cooling, which makes me wonder about its 4 star rating. The floor and carpet were so dirty they left a dark mark on the bottoms of my feet. The showers need work too. We called ahead, but the room was extremely hot when we arrived and took a while to cool down. I’m not sure this place qualifies as a 4 star hotel.
