Paris Plaza Hotel

Some of the staff were really nice, and I liked the lobby and the first-floor restaurant style. The background music and look reminded me of some hotels in Cairo, Egypt. The room had a bad smell, so it was good that they changed it for me; the second room was better, though still uncomfortable. The red carpet in the hallways was painful to look at, and overall it didn't seem clean or healthy. I also couldn't find an exchange nearby, and there was no ATM. For that quality, it felt expensive. The booking photos are very misleading.

I booked by phone at a rate of 45 USD per night, but at checkout they changed the story and said it was 50 USD. I also lost my room access card and was charged 30 thousand Iraqis dinner for it. The hotel policy doesn't allow food in your room, so if you order food, they make you eat downstairs in the dining area. I wouldn't stay here again or recommend it to anyone visiting Erbil. They are scammers.

The staff are clean and high quality, and everything is good, but I couldn't sleep at all. At 5:25 AM I could hear all kinds of noise, including every car passing on the street, even from the 7th floor. An air noise like a vacuum had been going continuously since 8:00 PM, and there was another beeping sound outside my room. It wasn't comfortable or relaxing, and the service wasn't very good, though the staff themselves were very good. The price felt expensive. The swimming pool was under maintenance, and nobody had told us.

The hotel has a clean, modern design and a really relaxing atmosphere, and the staff were very helpful. The room price included everything: breakfast, sauna, indoor pool, Turkish bath, gym, car parking, and free internet.
