Hrimland Cottages

We stayed at the Hrimland Cottages with our family of five this summer, and the comfort and cleanliness really impressed us. The kitchens were well stocked, the beds were super comfortable, and the views over the city were stunning. One of the best places we’ve stayed in Iceland, hands down.

The houses are beautiful, with three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a pleasant living room and kitchen. The inside and outside both feel fairly new and good quality. It’s a nice place to relax and enjoy the view, not too far from downtown. It is quite uphill, though, so going by car is probably best.

The views over the valley and sky were amazing from this cottage high above Akureyri, and its location worked well for trips around Akureyri and the Diamond Circle with a large group. Two families of four found the Luxury Cottage comfortable. It was clean and well maintained, with heated floors and fast WiFi that kept everyone connected and entertained. The full day trips meant the TV problem wasn’t a big deal, but it was a bummer that it asked for a PIN we couldn’t figure out. The bathroom light also didn’t work, and it took two days for someone to replace it, which wasn’t ideal. We could use our own devices thanks to the fast WiFi. I’d recommend it as a base for daily outings.

The hot tub was the one letdown. It fills through the drain, and hair from previous users floated up, so we couldn't use it. The cottages themselves suited our family of four adults perfectly: warm, comfortable, and equipped with a working kitchen, bath, and laundry. We also had very fast internet, lovely views over the city and mountains, and supermarkets nearby.
