Hotel Kea by Keahotels

I was lucky enough to spot a former Icelandic Eurovision Song Contest participant staying at the same hotel, which was a real highlight! Haha :D The hotel itself was wonderful, right in the center of Akureyri, with fantastic customer service.

We only went to the restaurant and didn't stay at the hotel. The food was excellent, beautifully presented, and imaginatively cooked. Fish lovers should try the arctic char.

The room was lovely, clean, and comfortable once we got in. It wasn't ready when we arrived, even though check-in time had passed by an hour, but the staff were very apologetic and the town was busy. Since the hotel is so central, we went for a look around and had coffee while we waited. Breakfast was good, and several great restaurants are just a short walk away. We really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend it.

The bed was comfortable, and breakfast was probably average. Beyond that, this is a very tired hotel that needs updating, so take another option if you have one. The shower is awful: the tiles have mold stains, and the water temperature keeps changing, with a real risk of burning yourself if you're not careful. The balcony isn't worth using either, with a large metal grate blocking the view and making it hard to step outside.
