Kjarnalundur Hotel

A cute place with pretty great views and lots of amenities. The EV chargers and hot tub are nice extras.

Breakfast was varied and plentiful. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and outside there are two hot tubs, with a sauna down in the basement.

The breakfast had a wide selection of both hot and cold food, which we really enjoyed. Hotel Kjarnalundur is about eight minutes from downtown Akureyri, on the side of a mountain with lovely views of more mountains and the water below, once you clear the dead spiders from the room window. One issue: the double economy room is very cramped for two and seems better suited to solo travel. The double bed takes up most of the space, so my boyfriend and I had to crawl over it to move around.

Breakfast had plenty to choose from, and there was lots of room to sit. The staff were friendly and helpful, too. Our room was comfortable, with a nice view of the nearby airport, though we never heard any aircraft noise. The bathroom seemed recently updated and was a good size; hot water took a couple of minutes, then worked fine. The hotel is just outside Akureyri. It’s not new, but it’s very clean and well kept. We also spotted a couple of old vehicles in the parking lot, and fluffy bunnies hopping around the property as we drove in and out.
