Blue Viking Pods

The best part was getting our seven-year-old's beloved stuffed Puppy back. He'd left it in our pod during our 24-hour layover, and we didn't notice until the next day as we were heading out. The staff arranged to get it back to us. That kindness really reflected the hospitality we experienced in Iceland, and I couldn't recommend this place more. The pods were a fun family adventure, and the place was well heated. It's a hostel mainly for backpackers passing through or flying in and out, so expect comfort and no frills, not luxury. The shared kitchen was spacious and clean, and the bathrooms were really nice. There's a small sitting room at the front and plenty of hooks for coats and boots. There are lockers for backpacks and valuables. No staff were on site, so issues mean calling or emailing. We got all the details in an email beforehand.

A good location close to the airport. The room was clean and worked nicely for the five of us, but with no lift we had to carry our luggage up and down.

The location is handy, and if the weather's good, you can walk to the airport. There's a shuttle if it isn't. Our large room had a kitchenette and dining area, and the beds were comfortable.

The cost and service make this place well worth it, even though the commercial area beside the residential one can feel a little unsettling. I managed to check in quite early, which was great. The rooms are a bit sparse, but clean and comfortable, with a fridge, microwave, and kettle. The shower was great, and there's even a heated towel rack. It's a short drive to both the airport and downtown Keflavik. I'd easily consider staying again.
