We could hear the neighbors talking through the thin walls, and later we heard them snoring. The room felt oddly empty and echoey, with a cable coming out of the wall that wasn’t connected to anything. The bed was very firm, and each of us got just one very soft pillow with almost no head support. The decor was fine, but the room didn’t feel cozy at all. At the restaurant, my burger was fine, but my partner couldn’t eat the ribs because they were so fatty. They took them off the bill and offered a replacement for free, but by then he’d lost his appetite. Reception staff seemed curt and uninterested at both check-in and checkout. That evening, we got a call on the room phone because the receptionist hadn’t entered us correctly in the system and they didn’t know who was in our room. The shuttle to the airport runs roughly once an hour early in the morning, with 8am the latest departure. There’s no airport pickup, and you have to book the shuttle ahead. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

The shower temperature kept changing, which was the only downside. Otherwise, the rooms were spacious, cozy, and spotless, with groceries and snacks for sale at reception. The restaurant had a nice atmosphere for dinner and stayed open until 21:30. There’s a big car park, and it’s a great stop near the airport.

The rooms were large and comfortable, and the hotel was really nice for a stop before flying. It’s close to the car hire drop-off points, easy to reach by bus from the airport, and the free airport transfer is a big help. I asked reception for an extra pillow and got one, so there was no reason to leave a bad review about it.

The dim lighting in the rooms, restaurant, and hallways gave the place a bit of a creepy feel. Still, the hotel was clean, the rooms were big and spacious, and the bed and blankets were super soft. Breakfast was small but good. I’d definitely recommend it for a night before or after a flight. 👍🏼

The front desk arranged a private tour with Matt, a taxi driver, and that was easily the highlight of our long layover. He took us around in his van, where we could hop in and out at the different sites. Matt knew a lot about each one and made the afternoon in Iceland really special. Highly recommend him! Our room was large, and it was great to have three beds for our group. The shower was probably the best I’ve had in a long time.
