Eyvindarholt Guesthouse

We rented the ground floor apartment for a few days in late May 2024. Aslaug was warm and kind, took great care of the units, and was available when needed. The place was very clean and tidy, with a roomy full kitchen, a comfortable sofa and nice TV in the relaxing living room, a cozy bedroom with outlets and a window, and a decent bathroom with a large shower. Breakfast was lovely, though it cost about as much as one at a mid-range four-star hotel. Aslaug's homemade bread was honestly the best I've ever had. The grounds felt peaceful, with geese wandering around and, on clear nights, a view of Reykjavik. There's also a small beach within walking distance. The location made it easy to reach Reykjavik and drive to from the airport. A few things could have been better: I missed having a microwave and a TV in the bedroom, and I wish the fireplace had been usable. In summer, the big living room skylight let in so much light even at midnight that it distracted me and gave me a headache. Still, we were very happy with our stay. It's clean, convenient, has great service and breakfast, and the owner is wonderful. We definitely recommend it and were glad we stayed here instead of at a hotel.

We used this place as a base for exploring and activities, and the views were great. It's only about a seven-minute drive to a supermarket. This was our second visit, and we chose the larger apartment this time. It was beautifully decorated and had everything we needed. The bed was really comfortable, the apartment was warm, and Aslaug is a lovely host who makes the best breakfasts. We'll definitely come back.

Of the four places we stayed during our Iceland trip, this was easily our favorite. It was quiet, quaint, and private, and the breakfast delivered to our room was delicious and clearly made with care. I can't recommend it enough, and I know I'll keep dreaming about coming back.

The rooms were clean and cozy, and the location just outside the busy city was ideal for seeing the auroras. The owner was very kind and made a different spread of authentic Icelandic breakfast dishes each day, all extremely delicious and complimentary. She was also happy to help with things we needed, including information about road closures or faeries. We enjoyed our stay so much that I'd give this Guesthouse six out of five if I could. It seems like a great fit for any kind of group, and I think you'll enjoy it too.
