Skogar Hostel

Natalia, the evening manager, was very attentive after I hit my head a few hours after arriving. Hotels in Iceland aren’t really equipped for situations like that, but she did the best she could under the circumstances. The staff were great. The hotel is right by Skogafoss, which is especially convenient if you’re planning the hike and not just climbing the steps. They helped us find free parking, even though you drive into the Skogafoss parking area. Breakfast was the best hotel breakfast of my whole Iceland trip, with lots of tasty variety. My single room was very, very small, but I knew that when I booked, so no complaints there. I’d definitely recommend the hotel.

We only used the toilets and the large free car park. Skogafoss waterfall was the main attraction, stunningly tall and powerful, with sunshine and spray making kaleidoscopic rainbows.

We had a wonderful stay and meal at the restaurant. The view was amazing, and we could see Skogafoss Waterfalls from our room window. The room was quite spacious and the beds were comfortable. We tried the Icelandic soup, lamb burger, and arctic charr, and the food was superb. Ola & Gemma gave excellent service and hospitality. We’ll definitely return in summer with the whole family.

We were caught out camping in a wind storm, and the campsite wasn’t open when we arrived. We went into the hotel to ask for information and Natalia greeted us. She was incredibly kind and informative, and quickly helped us book a room. The restaurant was incredible and very clean, but the staff’s kindness and helpfulness stood out most. Natalia saved our day, and we’re so thankful for this gem of a place. 12/10! Even if you’re not staying, it’s a must-stop for a spectacular meal and incredible views.
