Camp Boutique- Glamping

The weather didn’t cooperate, but the stay was still a cool experience. Check-in was smooth and really pleasant, and we felt so welcome. If we make it back to Iceland, we’d definitely stay here again.

The bathrooms, kitchen, and lounge were spotless, and I’d recommend the place. The domes were clean, comfortable, and very well heated, with heated mattresses too. After a cloudy night when I didn’t see much, I got up at 6am for the bathroom and found a whole light show above the domes. This stay made our trip!

The staff were awesome and made the stay great. I especially liked the warm, cozy barn, set among rocks and into the ground. It felt like an old Viking building, and was a lovely place to spend the evening. The main house has a well-equipped kitchen and dining area, plus a few places to eat, though it can get crowded when busy. Its facilities include three showers, three toilets, and two sinks, with plenty of towels. There’s another building farther into the campground, the barn, with two more toilets behind it. A really fun glamping campground with lots of interesting little nooks.

We spent more than two hours waiting, then at 11 pm had to find somewhere else to stay. The whole thing ruined a day of our holiday. The owner was rude and didn’t try to help, even though he later apologized, admitted the staff member was inexperienced, and confirmed in writing that we’d receive a full refund. He also said the tents shouldn’t have been listed because they can’t be prepared at short notice. Breakfast was advertised on site for €20 per person, but we were told it wasn’t available. The owner said breakfast could be found 20km away. We’d booked two igloos, or glass tents, for one night. The staff member who met us seemed inexperienced and hadn’t expected us. Neither tent had been preheated, both were extremely cold, and one had a broken heating system. The staff member did little to fix things and only fetched a heater after we offered to help. We were told warming the tents would take about an hour and asked to wait in a communal area that smelled strongly of sewage. At 10:30 pm, we were finally offered a refund because they couldn’t provide what booking had guaranteed. The advertised 19 m² igloos were in reality extremely small, barely leaving room to move around the bed. The kitchen, lounge, and showers were like very basic one-star camping facilities. The only decent communal area could only be reached by car and also had a strong sewage smell.
