The hosts made us feel so welcome, and the peaceful setting was lovely. We stayed two nights and found everything, including the facilities and breakfast, better than expected. Grímsey is magical. I'd happily recommend this guesthouse and hope to return soon.

The guesthouse sits in a wonderfully quiet part of Grímsey, with local wildlife and the Arctic Circle easy to reach. We found it comfortable and authentic, and the hosts were friendly and helpful, with good ideas for exploring the island. From the moment we arrived, the welcome made the stay feel special. I'd highly recommend it.

We came by boat, and although the walk from there is only a few minutes, Gagga kindly came to collect us by car. She was attentive and professional, always there if we needed anything. The rooms and beds were warm, welcoming, and very comfortable, and breakfast was substantial enough to set us up for hiking and exploring the island. Iceland is expensive for me as an Italian, but the price felt fair for such excellent service. Básar Guesthouse is a special find on an already wonderful island, with its own little sparkle. The airport is right by the guesthouse.

After the rough boat ride to Grimsey, the owner looked after us and even lent us a car so we could drive to the far end of the island. We had the place to ourselves, and it was wonderfully quiet and romantic, with a really lovely atmosphere.

The first few days at class were good, helped by nice weather. By day 3, we were grabbing our lifelinenes at sea, with major weather changes at times. The food was freshly cooked fish and frozen.
