Harbour View

I stayed there in Jan of 25. It was a nice place, though the town felt very empty. I knew there'd been an eruption before. It was still an easy drive to places, and I found the area beautiful. I missed the northern lights, but watching the snow fall in the quiet and hearing it crunch under my boots was the best. The shampoo they provided was pretty banging, so I had to take a picture of it.

It was really cozy, and we felt comfortable there. Parking was free and nearby. You can see the harbour, and it's almost right there, which makes the location a little less appealing. Otherwise, we'd recommend going.

There are about 10 cottages on the property, spaced out nicely so you don't feel right on top of the next person. Our cottage had windows that opened and black shades to block the midnight sun, a bed that fit two comfortably, and a walk-in shower. Suitcase space was limited, so we had to keep ours folded until we needed them. In the kitchen there was a hot plate with pots, a mini fridge, and a toaster. We booked two nights through booking.com. The harbour view was beautiful, parking was free with 10 spaces, and a paved path leads a very short distance to the cottages. There's food locally, roughly 11am-5pm, and a gas station. A great base for day trips to different hiking sites.

The hut is easy to find and well placed for Grindavik attractions, with a nice sea view. But several things in the room were broken: the locks didn't work, one door was hanging off its hinges, and the heating was stuck at 28 degrees. There was a lot of movement outside the accommodation too, which meant very little privacy. For the steep price, it just wasn't worth it, and I wouldn't recommend it.
