Hótel Leirubakki

The team here made the biggest impression on me. Everyone was welcoming, helpful and kind. When I got a puncture on the way out, my host and his girlfriend came to my aid. He fixed it quickly using a wild but clever workshop in the middle of nowhere, and saved the day. I’ll always be grateful, and it’ll be a good memory, even if it wasn’t much fun at the time. The room was cosy, comfortable, warm and super clean. The place itself is so quiet and peaceful, with wonderful views all around. It’s a poetic, bucolic spot facing the volcano.

A quiet, peaceful farm-like place with horses around and a great host. The view of Hekla is amazing. Rooms work well for a short stay, and the price is good for Iceland. I recommend it.

We came in out of the weather and found a great place to stay. The hot tub was a welcome break, and there’s also a thermal pool, horses, dogs and amazing views.

Far from town with no neighbours nearby, this hotel seems well placed for watching the northern lights. Our room was clean and worked well, and breakfast was standard. There’s a hot water tub outside, about a minute’s walk along the corridor from the room, where you can watch the lights at night. The shared room is a place to watch TV, have coffee or relax with friends.
