Guesthouse Hafnarnes

Charging 550 euros a night in summer is a rip-off. We would've been pleasantly surprised and accepted the setup at a reasonable rate, around 100-120 euros, which is what they charge off-season. It's normal to make money, but that price is six times what it should be. We expected proper rooms, a furnished kitchen, and staff available to help. Instead, the kitchen was large and had a coffee machine, but guests had to do everything themselves, including cleaning, and no one was around when we wanted information. Our four-bed room was only about 12-14 square meters, with holes in the walls and thin partitions. You could hear neighbors moving in bed, talking loudly, or showering at midnight, and sleep was poor. Toilets and bathrooms were shared, clean but not fully equipped, with some water leaks and low pressure. Toilets got dirty quickly from other guests. The bedrooms and everything else seemed built quickly and cheaply. I could accept all that, but not for 550 euros a night. Unacceptable.

It's dark and open in every direction, so you can watch the stars and aurora right from your room or the parking lot. The guesthouse is in a great location and very well maintained. The kitchen's juice and coffee machines are a nice touch.

The common room was nice, but overall this shabby place didn't feel worth the price. We booked a quadruple room and got one that was very small and very hot, with a window that could only be opened from outside, which was absurd. The shared shower wasn't very clean either.

The manager was really kind, and the location is beautiful. The horses and cats were very friendly too. Everything was great, with clean bathrooms, a big kitchen, and good-sized rooms. 100% recommend!
