Huts in Víðidalur

The rooms were spacious, clean, and comfortable, and breakfast was a good buffet. I also really liked the mushroom soup at lunch, and dinner was great too. A wonderful place to stay, highly recommend.

There was plenty to enjoy outdoors: I loved walking along the ridge, through the forest, and beside the river, with lots of birds for anyone interested in nature. The setting is beautiful and wonderfully quiet, and the place itself is comfortable. We only had 24 hours, which didn’t feel like enough time to properly relax. Dinner was superb, and the young chef and his team of 11 talked us through the preparations before we ate. After dinner, the owner shared an interesting account of his family history.

The service was fantastic. It’s family owned, and they kept checking in to see how things were going. Set back from the main road, the place is quiet. Our room was big and clean, but the building isn’t soundproofed. When the neighboring doors shut, the whole building shook.

We only stayed one night, and it made for a nice short break. The rooms were good value, and breakfast was good too. Staff were really friendly and helpful. The guesthouse sits a little back from the street, so it’s very quiet at night.
