The location was the highlight for us. It’s quiet, with a lovely view and a magnificent sunset, and the nearby rock formation is close enough to visit at night for the stars or northern lights. The host was so friendly and accommodating. He showed us around, and we ordered dinner from the little cafe shop he runs. The room was simple but cozy, comfortable, clean, and well cared for. There’s a full kitchen with dishes, pots, pans, a kettle, and a coffee maker. We had a great stay.

For the price, it wasn’t bad. The beds were fine once we’d put on the sheets, pillowcases, and duvet covers ourselves. The bathrooms were a bit cramped and dingy, though not awful. Just be aware it’s far from anywhere: the nearest shop was 40 minutes away.

We had the whole room, which sleeps five, and it came with a modern kitchen, dining room, heaters throughout, and a living room. The owner was kind and welcoming. The hotel/hostel was beautiful, and in that part of Iceland it seemed to be the only place across the landscape. The views over the Greenland Sea were amazing. An unforgettable place to stay. 💕

A calm, peaceful spot for the night in northwest Iceland. There’s a kitchen for cooking and a dining hall, and the washroom and bathing area were tidy. One of the best places to stay.

We enjoyed chatting with Knútur about the area. He’s friendly, and the cottage is cute, with a lovely view, especially from the kitchen. It’s very close to the elephant rock, and you can walk along the black sand beach to see seals and different birds. A pleasant stay.
