Týr Apartments by Heimaleiga

We spent four nights here, December 15-19, 2024, during a family vacation in Iceland. At first we were very pleased with the accommodation. On our final day, while getting ready to leave for the airport, we found bed bugs on one family member's T-shirt. We've tried to sort this out directly with the management group, but they haven't responded to any communication since 12/23/2024. They also haven't shared the findings of their supposed investigation. The worry that we might bring bed bugs into our home has caused our family a lot of stress in the weeks since, and badly spoiled what should have been a wonderful, memorable trip. Given what we've dealt with, I wouldn't recommend staying here even for free. I feel we have to raise this publicly to warn other travelers considering the apartment.

Parking was the one difficult part. There was plenty of space near a church a few blocks away, though. We had a great week in Iceland, and the location was convenient for restaurants and city spots. Our family of five stayed in the two-bedroom apartment. It fit us well, had a nice style, and felt cozy while still giving us plenty of room.

We had such an easy time staying here with our group of four. The apartment was clean and in a great downtown spot, between the shops on one side and the bus stops on the other. Ours was a corner unit facing intersecting streets, a lovely place to sit and unwind after long excursions. The Heimaleiga team made the whole trip feel less stressful, especially since we were traveling internationally. I had questions about the card used to book, changing dates, late check-in, a delayed flight, adding a night, luggage storage, and getting invoice documents afterward. They answered every one within minutes. I don't think I waited more than an hour, even though I emailed at all hours and was definitely a needy guest. Everything we needed was provided, including shampoo, conditioner, and dish soap. Taking care of the trash and checkout was simple: we took the trash out, started the dishwasher, and that was it. I can't say enough good things about the stay. I've heard Iceland is worth seeing in both summer and winter. When we come back for summer, I'll absolutely book TYR Apartments again. We loved the apartment. It was nicely furnished and clean, and the sofa made into an extra bed with a proper mattress, which was great. The doors used number pads instead of keys, so we didn't have to worry about losing anything. We'd highly recommend it.
