Guesthouse Eldhestar

This is about the horse tour, not the hotel. I signed up for route 2A with no riding experience at all. Lena was our guide and did an excellent job. The horses behaved very well and only went fast when you asked. Sometimes I had to ask more than once because my horse liked to ignore me. The views were incredible, and it was the best introduction to riding I could have asked for. One of the highlights of my Iceland trip, for sure.

I joined the 5D riding and hiking tour and had an AMAZING guide, Lidia. She’s a caring, wonderful young woman who clearly loves horses and people. Going from riding to hiking through the mountains made for one of my best tours in Iceland over three weeks. Lidia made the day!

Eldhestar had the best food of the three hotels we stayed at in Iceland. We spent two nights there, had the riding tour, and ate all three meals each day at the hotel. The riding tour was memorable, and we were thrilled with the whole experience. On our first night we also saw the northern lights, clearly visible from the hotel. I only had to step out of the room to take pictures.

Riding Sokki was one of the highlights of my first trip to Iceland. He was well trained, and as a beginner and first-time rider I felt this was a great experience. The staff were exceptional, the price was fair, and the delicious lunch was included. I’d highly recommend it to other first-time riders.
