Hotel Hlid

Our room was clean and spacious, and the hotel is functional, but it’s clearly getting on in years. Several things were noticeably worn and could do with renovation. There’s a new building going up next door, so perhaps they’ll update the main house too. We hadn’t realized when booking that the restaurant wasn’t operating. Unfortunately, breakfast was the weakest we had in Iceland.

Haukur made our stay amazing. He was so friendly, knew a ton about Iceland, and was a real wealth of knowledge. He should check everyone in! I extended my stay because I thought he’d be working the next night, but I haven’t seen him since. Breakfast was absolutely amazing too: waffles, pancakes, eggs, bacon, paprika, tomatoes, yogurt, muffins, sweets, beans, latte macchiato, and more. Thanks for a wonderful stay. We’ll be back!

The location is perfect, and the staff are extremely helpful. The rooms are very nice, and booking is easy. As a tour guide, I’ve chosen Hotel Kvika several times because I need to make sure my passengers are happy with their accommodation. When the northern lights appear, we can head out to the parking lot to see them, or watch from the hot tub. It’s the best option when traveling to Iceland.

I brought a group of 44 from my school in Dunstable, UK, and we had a fantastic stay. The food was terrific, the facilities and location were great, and the staff were so helpful and caring.
