Borg Apartments

There’s plenty of free parking right in front of the flat, and it was clean and quiet. The kitchen has all the cooking equipment you need, and toiletries are provided, though there’s no shower gel. They’re very strict about recycling, and extra charges apply if you don’t follow the rules.

The location was convenient and the keys were waiting in a lockbox. The kitchen was well equipped, and there was a washer. We both woke with sore backs, though. Neither the double bed nor the sofa bed was very comfortable.

Everything was immaculately clean, the shower was hot, and the bed was super comfortable. We could walk to a convenience store, a pizza place, and an eclectic casual-modern restaurant and pottery gallery. A restful first night in Iceland. Highly recommend.

The larger apartment we ended up in was magnificent. It had a spacious living room with a big dining table and couch, a very comfortable bed, a clean bathroom, and a kitchen stocked for self-catering. There was also a roomy entrance with a shoe rack and coat closet. I like being able to check myself in when I’m not staying at a hotel, and this place made that easy. We stayed two nights and paid $345. The location worked really well for our first two nights. We drove from Keflavik International Airport, saw the Golden Circle with plenty of stops, checked in, and still had time to catch a beautiful sunset at Seljalandsfoss. The apartment is right off the main highway, and there’s a giant N1 nearby with a sit-down grill and everything else you might need. Check-in, though, was a very bad experience. The apartment we were promised hadn’t been cleaned, even though it was already 2.5 hours past check-in time. The bed wasn’t made, there was hair on the bedding, towels were on the ground, and crumbs were on the floor. I contacted the owners by email and they upgraded us from the studio to a larger apartment, which was a nice gesture, and we enjoyed staying there. Still, I can’t really forgive arriving to find our apartment not ready. We were in a foreign country without cell service and had few lodging options if nobody came to sort it out.
