The room faced straight onto the motorway, so there was no real peace and quiet. The windows wouldn’t open, and there was no air conditioning. Breakfast had very little choice and didn’t meet expectations. For the price, it was disappointing. My first impression was okay, but problems started on day one: there was no refrigerator, the sink made loud beeping sounds, and switching on the shower made the whole bathroom, and even the room, smell strongly of sewage. The bathroom was dated and had no showerhead holder at first. They fixed that after I mentioned it, which I appreciated. But the drain was clogged and water overflowed across the bathroom floor, and the showerhead fell off the hose so it couldn’t be used. The very helpful receptionist arranged repairs for those issues too, and the service was excellent.

The price in January was great, and breakfast was available if you wanted it. The accommodation was clear and well organized, though it’s a bit far from Reykjavík center, about a 30-minute bus ride.

The location was the only good part. The room was dirty and cold, the heating was broken, and the window wouldn’t open. Turning on the hot water brought a rotten egg, sewer smell. I tried talking to the guy at reception, but he barely paid attention. Possibly the worst place I’ve stayed, 0/10.

The staff have been professional, lovely, and very helpful, and the beds were clean and comfy. There are smart TVs in the rooms, which is great. The common areas and stairwells also look nicely decorated and quite upmarket, but that look doesn’t carry into the bedroom halls or rooms. I often stay in hotels for work, and this one doesn’t compare well with many other 3 stars I’ve used. The two single rooms I’ve had were small, dated, and in need of some TLC. The carpets were worn and stained, with a late 90's or early 2000's look. Wallpaper was peeling, bathroom tiles weren’t great, and there was a small gap and line marks around the toilet flush. The shower needs a proper clean or re-pointing, as it’s grotty between tiles and in the corners. In this room the shower curtain had been patched with duct tape and a cable tie, which looked awful. It’s right beside the motorway, so it isn’t quiet, though that didn’t really bother me. It’s 30-45 mins from the airport, with a few restaurants around, so the location isn’t the worst. It’s not all bad, but the rooms need some TLC. For the price, I wouldn’t choose one of the single rooms again. I’ve stayed twice, both times in singles with similar problems. I might try a bigger room because of the other reviews, or come back if there’s a small renovation.
