Vogafjós Farm Resort is a family run guesthouse, warm and cosy, a total of 24 rooms. The guesthouse is located in Vogar farmland and surrounded by lava formations and birch trees. It is a perfect location to experience all the wonders of Mývatn area.
A traditional Icelandic breakfast is served every day at Vogafjós Restaurant, in our cowshed café just a 3-minute walk from the guesthouse.
While enjoying your meal you can experience the great view of lake Mývatn or watch through a glass window when the cows are milked. Guests are also allowed to go inside the cowshed to pet the calves and try the fresh milk.
Vogafjós Farm Restaurant is a "farm to table" restaurant and offers homemade local food such as Geysir bread and smoked trout, lamb shank, beef burger, mozzarella and salad cheese made from Vogafjós farm's own milk.

The food is homemade and local, with fresh farm ingredients, and we've tried nearly everything over the years, from hamburgers and soups to desserts. The lamb remains our favorite, tender and perfectly seasoned each time. There are smoked lamb and trout, homemade cheese and pastries, Geysir bread baked underground with geothermal heat, and meat from their own farm. Set in a converted cowshed on a working farm, the restaurant has gorgeous views of Lake Mývatn. It's one of our must-stops whenever we're near North Iceland. The kids love watching the cows being milked nearby while we have a warm, cozy meal at sunset, and we've been able to visit the cows inside and outside the shed too. There's a small country shop with Icelandic handmade art and traditional goods, plus guesthouses if you want to stay and enjoy the peaceful farm. It captures the warmth and simple charm of Icelandic farm life.

After living nearby for almost 10 years, I finally went with my son. The restaurant is lovely, out in the countryside with amazing views, and we could see the cows through the window. You can also go into the barn to pet them. My son was too scared to try, but I thought it was a great experience. The food and service were top-class, and it was some of the best lamb I've tasted in Iceland. Prices aren't too high. As a restaurateur myself, I highly recommend it. Definitely coming back!

A lovely stay, with a big, cozy room that felt spacious by Iceland standards. The food was really good, and breakfast had a generous spread. We had dinner there too, and everything was terrific, even the arctic char. The smoked Lamb was something special 🥰

We had the beef burger, the vogafós Special, and a happy marriage cake. Everything came out quickly and tasted delicious, and the menu had enough choices for anyone. The special's items were all light and tasty, and the salad is made with kale. There's also a little gift shop with really nicely made wool goods. You can go see the cows on the farm too.

We had dinner here right by Lake Myvatn, and everything we ordered was great, including the lamb chop and burger. There's a dairy next to the dining area where you can go see the cows and calves. For a small place like Lake Myvatn, it's definitely worth eating here.
