The hot tub was a real treat, especially when the Northern Lights appeared overhead. Bára made us feel at home, and her love for her Icelandic horses was clear. The rooms were a good size, with a comfortable shared area and a varied breakfast each morning. The bar stayed well stocked throughout our visit. A perfect place to explore Southern Iceland from.

We came here with a G Adventures tour, and the calm setting was such a welcome change. The place is cozy and clean, with a lovely landscape and horses that Ba’ra is clearly proud of. Our host greeted all of us warmly, even after a long day of travel.

Our tour group had the whole place for a couple of nights, and we had a lovely stay. We cooked dinner together in the kitchen, though I’m not sure how meals are normally handled, and breakfast was made for us in the morning. The bedrooms were spacious and very clean, with large bathrooms, heated towel racks and underfloor heating. There’s a big shared lounge with games and cards, and being well away from town meant we could see a sky full of stars.

The horses were a lovely extra, and the property itself is gorgeous. We also had incredible service. One of the most memorable guesthouses I’ve stayed in, and I’d highly recommend it when traveling through Iceland.

Seeing the Northern Lights from the hot tub was such a special part of our stay. I had a wonderful time at the Álftröð Guesthouse, and Bárá was so kind. Thank you for making the visit feel incredible.
